Can you separate line art from a sketch if you draw on the wrong layer in Photoshop?

I made the usual mistake of doing my line art on the wrong layer (the sketch layer) and I was wondering if there was a way I could either erase the sketch without erasing the black lines, OR if there was a way to neatly separate the two colors onto different layers like they were supposed to be in the first place.
