Are they too lazy or am I too picky?

We have a very tiny kitchen, and to get everything to fit into the cupboards, you have to put the dishes away a certain way. I asked my hubby for help putting the groceries and dishes away, and he just shoves everything into the cupboard, and then we have over flow onto the counter tops. He says that if I want help picking up the kitchen, it's either accept that he's just going to shove them into the cupboard, or do it myself. Am I being too picky about how things go into the cupboards, or am I justified on expecting him to put things away neatly?
